WHEREAS ̧ Minnesota Statutes 204B.09, subd. 3(c), allows townships to establish a resolution governing the counting of write-in votes for township offices;
WHEREAS ̧ the statute provides that townships may choose to record the write-in votes for individual candidates only if the total number of write-in votes for that office is equal to or greater than the fewest number of non-write-in votes for a ballot candidate;
WHEREAS, opting not to record the write-in votes for an individual ballot office when the total number of write-in votes for that office is unlikely to result in an error in the administration of the election;
WHEREAS, the administration of the township election requires significant investment of human and financial resources;
WHEREAS, a reduction in the time and resources necessary to administer the election provides a benefit to the township and is in the best interests of township;
WHEREAS, the orderly and efficient administration of elections increases confidence in the election process;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, votes for write-in candidates for township office will be individually recorded only if the total number of write-in votes for an office is equal to or greater than the fewest number of non-write-in votes for the same office.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, this resolution will remain in effect until a resolution on the same subject is adopted by the Township Board.

PUBLIC NOTICE –
Notice is hereby given to qualified voters of Stanchfield Township, Isanti County, State of Minnesota, that filing for town office will be held for a two week period beginning July 14, 2026 and ending July 28, 2026 at 5:00 pm. Affidavits of Candidacy shall be filed with the Town Clerk. Filing fee is $2.00.
Offices to be filled at the November Election are for one Supervisor-position A for a term of six years and for one Clerk for a term of four years.

SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 2 “SHARED DRIVEWAY ORDINANCE”
Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 365.125, subdivision 2, the Town Board of Stanchfield Township, Isanti County, Minnesota, has adopted Ordinance No. 2, entitled “Shared Driveway Ordinance.” The ordinance regulates the establishment and use of shared private driveways within the Township. Its purpose is to prevent future confusion over whether such driveways are public roads and to ensure that they remain privately maintained by the property owners who use them.
This Ordinance promotes safety, clarifies maintenance responsibilities, and prevents misclassification of private driveways as public roads. Shared driveways serving more than one parcel require Township Board approval, a recorded Private Access Agreement, and compliance with specific conditions. The ordinance also outlines requirements for potential future conversion of a shared driveway to a public road. Violations are enforceable in Isanti County District Court.
