County – Local Information

Isanti County Website: https://www.co.isanti.mn.us/

PCA (Pollution Control Agency) is currently working in the area around Stanchfield Corners regarding past contamination. If you are in the affected area, you will be receiving a post card with information they are looking for. Please follow the instructions on that card. Here is information that was mailed out to the affected area:
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and its contractor, WSB, are investigating a potential release of leaded gasoline additive in groundwater from a petroleum release site (the Site). The enclosed fact sheet provides more details on the Gasoline Additive Assessment Project.
The MPCA’s contractor, WSB, will be sampling wells in your area in May. Please return the enclosed form in the pre-paid, addressed envelope, or you may fill out an online form at https://www.pca.state.mn.us/webform/well-sampling.
Your timely response is important. Submit a completed form by April 18, 2024.
What does sampling your water involve? The sampling and laboratory analysis will be done at no cost to you. Collecting the sample takes about one-half hour and will be collected by one of the MPCA’s contractors. The sample must be collected from a tap that is not filtered (and preferably not softened). If your outside taps are turned on, you do not need to be present while the sample is collected. If your outside taps are filtered or turned off, the contractor may need to collect the sample inside your home. The MPCA’s contractor will contact you by telephone approximately one week before they plan to collect your sample.
The laboratory will then test the sample for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including the leaded gasoline additives 1,2-DCA and ethylene dibromide (EDB). You will receive a copy of the results and a description of what they mean within 60 days of the date of sampling. This sampling will help us take steps to ensure that you and your family are drinking water that meets state standards and protects public health and the environment. It also will guide future testing.
All personal information will be removed (e.g., name, address, phone number, etc.) before using the data from the sampling of your well in reports or other communications. However, the data, including personal information, are not legally considered private and could be subject to disclosure.
If you have any questions about this groundwater investigation, please contact me, Erica Klingfus, at 218-302-6647 or by email at GAProject.MPCA@state.mn.us. You may also contact Peter Moore with
